Core Driller is a loosely based around the concept of drilling deeply typically for core samples. The player must battle the heat built up by friction form drilling and the heat from the depth. This heat builds up from moving (or drilling) and getting hit by little evil heat monsters which live in larger groups the deeper the player goes.
The goal is simple dig down without overheating. The bar to the left of the drill is the heat value, do not let it fill up with red. The bar to the left of that is the cooldown for explosions. There are two things the player can do with heat, let it cool off by temporarily stopping, or vent it into an explosion which can destroy heat enemies but also denser rocks which can act as safe havens from the creeps.
The controls are arrows for movement and the space bar vents heat to create explosions.
Core Driller was created by Michael "Z" Goddard for the RPI GameDev Club's May 2008 GameJam. Helping to decide the theme the night before and helping to run it, he respectfully did not enter the title for judging. The judges did like it though.
This is another one of my projects using the Bazaar VCS. Feel free to branch the repository from

I have some ideas on how to expand this game and it could use polish, but I'm not sure when that will happen.
